Correlation to State Standards
The Scobre Press Classroom Program, including our easy-to-use Teacher’s Resource Guides, was created using research-based best practices for reading instruction. We have incorporated graphic organizers throughout our before, during, and after lesson plans to teach reading comprehension strategies and fluency, while building vocabulary, helping students to practice writing for purpose and fostering class discussions. We do all of this with high-interest content your students will be thrilled to read about.

The fifteen key elements highlighted by the 2004 Reading Next report parallel national and state standards being assessed on high stakes reading exams.
Reading Next is a 2004 report to Carnegie Corporation of New York from the Alliance for Excellent Education, authored by Gina Biancarosa and Dr. Catherine Snow. It assesses the state of adolescent literacy and makes recommendations that address the primary challenges in the field. The report identifies fifteen key elements of effective adolescent literacy instruction and programs.
